Country Flag Technical Support Engineer Dublin, Republic of Ireland

The Technical Support Centre at our client comprises a highly skilled group of engineers who are responsible for supporting our client's product family on a global basis. Our client are looking for enthusiastic dedicated IT professionals, who are willing to work shifts, to join our team of Technical Support Engineers helping us to enhance our reputation for delivering industry benchmark support services for our range of messaging and directory applications on a 24 x 7 basis. Responsibilities will include * The Technical Support Engineer will be involved in trouble-shooting and replicating complex customer issues and managing them through the fault resolution process. * The Technical Support Engineer will be responsible for maintaining call logs and works activity reporting. * The Technical Support Engineer will liaise with Customers, Sales, Product Management, Engineering teams and with our client's Support Centres. * The Technical Support Engineer will give post Sales support, possibly including bug fixing and product maintenance. * The Technical Support Engineer will make ad-hoc visits to customer installations. Someone who is a self-starter with the ability to work on their own and take initiative, has good interpersonal and organisational skills, is comfortable in a team environment, is assertive and self motivated, excellent diagnostic and problem solving skills, can manage multiple, simultaneous tasks, has excellent research and analysis skills and can quickly grasp new concepts, the ability to work to tight deadlines and to work with other members of the same team and with various departments Essential *System level experience UNIX (one or more of Solaris, HP-UX or Linux - RH4) *Perl/Unix Scripting skills *C, C++ or Java programming skills. *Degree/Diploma Engineering/Computer Science Discipline with 3-4 years experience in related industry. At least 2 years in a technical, hands-on, support role working with Internet based solutions. *Understanding of Mobile/SMS Messaging Systems *Experience with Email Messaging Systems *Knowledge of open standard Communication and Internet Protocols such as LDAP, TCP/IP, SMTP, IMAP, POP and HTTP *Interest in learning new technologies quickly *Interest in emerging technologies in the online community space.
