Radio Planning Engineer - Dublin - Permanent
Our Client -Leading Mobile Network is currently looking for Radio Planning Engineer.
The right candidate will be responsible for delivering new coverage on both the 2G and 3G networks for his area of responsibility. The Radio Planner will also be responsible for designing additional capacity for the existing networks where required.
The Radio Planner will work closely with both the Property Acquisition and Network Deployment teams to deliver new sites and the Customer Support and Sales teams to identify customer requirements. Essence of Role - Key Accountabilities
2G and 3G Radio Planning
a) Design and implement new sites to meet traffic growth and coverage targets. Visit sites throughout the country to assess their coverage/capacity suitability and work closely with property acquisition to deliver these sites. Radio plan key coverage sites for 2G network coverage completion and to further expand 3G coverage footprint.
b) Complete both Eircsson planned areas and Nokia datafills for all new base stations and node B's in areas of responsibility.
c) Conduct cluster analyses in areas of responsibility for the parameter optimisation of existing 3G sites.
- Investigate and respond to all corporate and customer complaints in areas of responsibility
- Partake in projects/initiatives being led by Access Networks throughout the year
Role Dimensions
- Maximise Revenue from Network through careful site selection and parameter adjustment
- Minimise CAPEX associated with Network Development
- Minimise OPEX associated with Network Operations
- Deliver solutions to meet strategic goals
- Design sites that meet technical requirements
- Design sites that meet customer needs
Typical Outputs
- 60+ site visits/year
- 30+ planned areas/data fills for new 2G and 3G base stations
- ~40 site expansions
- ~30 customer site visits
Person Specification
- Degree calibre in Engineering or Physics
- Proven track record in Telecommunications
- Ability to travel to different sites throughout the country
- Working knowledge of following is preferred: Ericsson RAN, Nokia UTRAN, Atoll planning tool, Nokia NetAct, Ericsson CNA, Optima performance management, Actix analyser

Ability to:
- communicate and work as part of a team
- exercise discretion and independent judgement, think creatively, and strive towards problem resolution
- exercise keen judgement in site selection
- prepare complex engineering designs
